From the back cover..
The author's previous two publications with Findhorn Press focused on the first two branches of Thai medicine, herbal remedies and Thai massage. The current title, the final book in the series, showcases the third branch: Thai spiritual practice.
Both Buddhism and shamanism continue today to play a role in the healing practices found throughout traditional Thai culture.
Drawing upon eight years of academic research and practice of these
arts among monks, shamans, and other healers, the author provides
an overview to the spiritual practices of Thailand, with particular
emphasis on healing rituals and meditations that can be practiced
in the modern West.
This book is illustrated throughout with attractive photography and helpful
diagrams. Interspersed among the images are traditional meditations,
prayers for healing, instructions for practice of Thai ceremonies,
and biographies of famous Thai healers.
The author also includes background
information on the history and philosophy of Thai Buddhism, shamanism,
and medical traditions in non-technical and readable passages offering
resources for further reading and study at the end of each chapter.
10% of the author's proceeds from sales of this book are donated
to charities and non-profit organizations working with healthcare
in Thailand. |
